"Nothing more than her trying to stir the pot" — Barrow Co. responds to anonymous post

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

After an anonymous post was made in a Facebook group seemingly calling out the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the post has been debunked by the agency.

The post was made Tuesday morning in the “Rants and Raves Barrow County” Facebook group claiming that BCSO was being unhelpful regarding a report made about her special education student’s treatment at a local school.

The poster said that they called the police to the school because the principal refused to, and also claimed that how the district handles special education students “is disgusting.”

The poster said they called for a report, and was told to wait 10 days. After 10 days, they claim they went to the sheriff’s office for the report.

After that, the poster claims they were told there was no report, to which the poster said they replied “I have the correct information, why isn’t anyone doing their job.”

That’s when the post said an officer came out and told her to stop yelling or they would have to arrest her.

Later on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office made a post saying they take the claims “very seriously” and even attempted to reach out to the poster. They also welcomed the poster to reach out to Sheriff Jud Smith.

About an hour later, Barrow County officials had an update. “The anonymous poster has been identified by Admin and their name was given to us. For full clarification her post is completely false and is nothing more than her trying to stir the pot which is what we already confirmed and knew.”

BCSO also said they have “no issue” with anonymous posts, but only requested that they be honest.
