The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) recently reported an incident of an individual exhibiting “aggressive behavior” while attempting to sell internet service with Kinetic by Windstream.

Lumpkin County Sheriff Stacy Jarrard said in a Facebook post that he reached out to Windstream and determined the individual was a third-party contractor and the company terminated his engagement with them.

Jarrard also provided a statement given to him by Georgia Director of Kinetic by Windstream Blake Fields.

“We’re grateful this was reported, and we apologize for what occurred. The behavior reported by community residents of this individual is unacceptable and violates Kinetic’s standards,” Fields' statement said. “This individual is an employee of a third-party contractor. We notified his employer earlier today, September 3, 2025 and terminated his engagement with us. He is no longer authorized to work on behalf of our company. We are cooperating fully with local law enforcement.”

In an update, Jarrard clarified that he contacted the company to see if it was a scam or not. Since it was not a scam, it was not a criminal act. Windstream did their own investigation before deciding to terminate his contract.
