Groundbreaking planned for expansion project on Hall County Spout Springs Water Reclamation Facility

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 2 for the expansion project at the Hall County Spout Springs Water Reclamation Facility in Flowery Branch.

“The Spout Springs Water Reclamation facility has served the growing South Hall population for several years now, but as this community continues to grow, its current capacity will not be able to serve at its current rate,” Hall County District 1 Commissioner Kathy Cooper said. “This expansion will allow the County to continue offering wastewater services to surrounding residents and contribute to the overall quality of life for the next 10 to 15 years.”

The groundbreaking will occur at 2:30 p.m. at 6818 Spout Springs Road. Light refreshments will be served.

According to Hall County, the expansion will increase the facility’s wastewater capacity from 750,000 gallons per day to 1.6 million gallons per day.

Upgrades will include new ultraviolet light disinfection, a new aerobic digester, a new water booster pumping system, new filters and a vacuum truck receiving station.

The budget for the project is $20.9 million and is funded by Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax and the County’s water and sewer fund.

The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
