GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Lakeview Academy boys won their second consecutive GIAA Region 4-3A/4A championship on Friday, holding off Athens Christian 68-53 at the Lakeview gym.
The Lions (22-6) jumped out to a 24-13 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. They took a 39-21 lead at halftime.
But Athens Christian (18-6) stormed out of the break to outscore Lakeview 21-13 in the third quarter to pull within 52-42. The Lions would hold on down the stretch.
Brock Graham paced the Lions with 25 points including draining eight 3-pointers. Tayden Ware, who was named the 4-3A/4A Player of the Year, scored 13 points, and Kyari Burch added 10 points for Lakeview.
The Lions next will play in the GIAA state playoffs next Saturday. A time and opponent has yet to be determined.
