JASPER, Ga. — The White County girl's basketball team fended off a furious fourth-quarter charge by Chestatee to hold on for a 53-48 win Friday in the semifinals of the Region 6-3A tournament at Pickens.
White County will play the winner of Pickens-GAC for the region championship on Saturday.
The Lady War Eagles rallied from seven points down to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but White County held Chestatee to one point in the final minute of the game.
Aslyn Burkett, who finished with 14 points, hit a huge layup with 20 seconds left to push the Lady Warriors to a three-point lead, 51-48.
Emma Lightsey, who scored the game's final bucket to go up five, led the Lady Warriors with 16 points.
Kylie Watkins finished with 11.
