SUWANEE, Ga. — The Buford boys basketball team held off Central Gwinnett, 69-65, to advance to the Region 8-6A championship on Monday at Collins Hill.
Carmelo Williams scored 22 points to lead the Wolves (22-3), and Dillon Nixon chipped in 16.
Josiah Hall led the Knights with 19 points. Caleb McDougald had 15.
Buford will play Collins Hill for the region title on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Collins Hill.

The Bears rallied from an 18-13 first-quarter deficit to take the lead 31-29 at the half and never looked back en route to the win over West Hall in the first round of the Region 8-3A tournament at home on Monday.
Bluff held West Hall to four points in the third quarter -- 16 in the second half -- to blow open the game 47-33.
The Bears had three guys score in double digits, eight in the scoring column. Cooper Dean and Cooper Glover scored 11 points each, while Tyler Underwood had 10. Andy Quirarte, Tony Rushin, Ben Craig and Connor Robinson all scored six points, and Cole Brooks scored three.
Landon Bennett led the Spartans with 15 points.
Cherokee Bluff will play Jefferson for the second time in a week on Wednesday in the region semifinals. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on 94.5 FM The Lake.
