Barrow County officials are thanking the public for their continued support, when it comes to watching for the community's well-being, after Sunday's discovery outside of the Bethlehem United States Postal Service office.
A release from the Barrow County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) says they were called just after 11:30 a.m. Sunday about a suspicious package found by the front doors of the USPS Building on Monroe Highway, while the facility was closed.
BCSO proceeded with caution by calling in aid to secure the area and have specialized units, including the UGA's Police Bomb Squad confirm the package was non-threatening and cleared without incident.
Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith commends the caller for their vigilance. Smith says the investigation into the package's origin continues.
