DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Dawson County continued its hot streak Friday night, knocking off arch-rival Lumpkin County 56-37 in Region 6-3A action.
It was the third straight win for the Lady Tigers (13-7, 6-3 Region 6-3A) to keep them in third place in the standings.
Dawson County led 15-10 at the end of the first quarter and pushed its lead to 25-16 by halftime. The Lady Indians (7-14, 2-8 Region 6-3A) stayed within striking distance in the third quarter, but the Lady Tigers used an 18-8 fourth quarter to pull away.
It was the sixth straight loss for Lumpkin County.
CHESTATEE 50,
GAC 37
Payton Cable poured in a career-high 28 points to lead the Lady War Eagles to a Region 6-3A win on the road.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, Chestatee (13-6, 5-3 Region 6-3A) held the Lady Spartans (11-8, 4-5 Region 6-3A) to just two points in the second quarter for a 19-10 lead at the break.
GAC cut the lead to 39-32 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Lady War Eagles got defensive again, holding GAC to just 5 points in the fourth quarter.
Caroline Bull had 13 points for Chestatee.
The Lady War Eagles will play host to Johnson on Saturday.
PICKENS 42,

The Lady Trojans pushed the top-ranked Dragonettes to the final second in a Region 6-3A battle at the Lynn Cottrell Court.
North Hall had the ball with 7.9 seconds left down 40-39 but turned it over on the in bounds, and Ellison Steinhauer hit two free throws for Pickens to seal the win.
Pickens (18-2, 8-1 Region 6-3A) led just 8-6 after the first quarter and took a 24-16 lead into halftime. But North Hall (6-14, 2-6 Region 6-3A) began its comeback in the third.
The Lady Trojans trimmed the lead to 32-27 heading into the fourth quarter before getting within a point late.
Steinhauer finished with 15 points to lead Pickens.
Lauren Hemmer paced North Hall with 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Athena Vachtsevanos had 12 points, including 7 in the fourth-quarter comeback.
GAINESVILLE 46,
LANIER 36
The Lady Red Elephants held the Lady Longhorns to just nine first-half points en route to a Region 7-5A win at Davis-Hill Gymnasium.
Gainesville (12-7, 5-3 Region 7-5A) led 18-9 at halftime and then matched Lanier (11-10, 6-2 Region 7-5A) the rest of the way.
Jaucelyn Smith and Shailyn Jones each had 12 points to pace the Lady Red Elephants. Damaria Colburn added 11 points for Gainesville.
Michelle Ezumah led Lanier with 9 points. It was the second straight loss for the Lady Longhorns.
Gainesville will travel to Chattahoochee on Saturday for another key region matchup.
BUFORD 75,
RABUN GAP 40
The Buford defense held the Lady Eagles to 11 points or less in every quarter en route to a lopsided non-region win at The Buford Arena.
The Class 6A 10th-ranked Lady Wolves (17-1) led 19-11 after the opening quarter but outscored Rabun Gap 19-8 in the second. They followed that with a 24-11 third quarter to blow it open.
E’miah Fields scored 22, 12 in the big second quarter, to lead Buford. Lydia Ledford added 16 points, and Ansley Keuren scored 10 for the Lady Wolves.
Buford will play host to No. 2-ranked North Forsyth on Saturday.

Ellie Roberts led LCA with 11 points but still dropped a region game at home on Friday.
Adelyn Gough and Meav Fouts had 7 points apiece for LCA (11-11, 2-2 GAPPS 1-2A). Emma Flowers added 6 points for the Lady Lightning.
LCA will next play Valor Christian at home on Monday.
