Scam alert from Barrow County law enforcement officials this week regarding bail bonds

Another scam alert is being sent out by a local law enforcement agency this week.  This one is preying over the families of locally incarcerated suspects.

Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith's office says in social media posts that scammers are calling the family of individuals who are recently incacerated. The scammer will pose as a representative from a bonding company and request payment via phone.

Sheriff Smith says DO NOT pay a bonding company without meeting them in person. All of the bonding companies listed below are approved by Sheriff Smith, and he says they will gladly meet you in person:
