Gwinnett County Police arrested a juvenile suspect for making terroristic threats about shooting people at school.

The Gwinnett County Police Department was alerted about a potentially threatening social media post by Gwinnett County School Resource Officers on Sept. 6.

The social media post reportedly outlined a potential threat aimed at a Gwinnett County school. GCPD Intelligence Analysts, alongside detectives and members of Situational Awareness and Crime Response Center, were able to obtain account holder information to identify the suspect.

Authorities have also arrested other juveniles for posting social media threats targeting schools  in Hall  County, Jackson County, Rabun County, and Gainesville City Schools.

The FBI and GBI released a statement Friday regarding the social media threats in the area reminding citizens that the threats will be “investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Police did not specity which Gwinnett County School the threat was directed at.

GCPD encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activity in the community to their department via 911, or their non-emergency number at 770.513.5700.
