One driver faces charges from Tuesday evening wreck on I-985 in Hall County

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) says a two-vehicle crash in Hall County Tuesday evening along I-985 resulted in minor injuries and charges against one driver.

A press release early Wednesday from GSP says a Honda Accord and Toyota Tacoma were both traveling south on I-985 at Mundy Mill Road (exit 16) at around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, attempting to merge onto the interstate. The driver of the Accord, Juan Benny Dominguez, misjudged his clearance and began to pass the Tacoma on the right shoulder. Dominguez lost control of the Honda and over corrected, causing the vehicle to strike the Tacoma twice.

GSP adds that Dominguez was found to have one missing lug nut per wheel. One lane of traffic in both directions of I-985 had become blocked druing the cleanup effort Tuesday evening.

Dominguez was charged with failure to maintain lane, passing on the shoulder, and operating an unsafe vehicle. Only minor injuries were reported. The name of the driver in the Tacoma was not released at the time of this initial publication.
