Gwinnett County releases voting info for Mulberry city council elections

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

Gwinnett County has released voting information for the first-ever city council elections that are currently set to be held in November for the new city of Mulberry.

The information comes while those elections are the subject of multiple lawsuits against the county and the State of Georgia over the constitutionality of the city's charter. The suits seek to stop those council elections and dissolve the city by striking down the State Senate bill that created it.

For now, the city is set to hold its first elections to fill its five city council posts during the general election on November 5.

Gwinnett County's website says that while individual voters' polling places will not change, there will be one single voting location for the Mulberry city council elections, regardless of the council district in which a given voter lives. The location of that polling place has not been released.

The city council races will also be on a separate ballot, meaning a voter will need to go to the Mulberry voting location to cast their city council ballot separate from their general election ballot at their normal polling location.

The map of Mulberry's city council districts can also be found on the county's website. Mulberry occupies the northeast portion of Gwinnett County and was approved by voters in the May primary elections.
