A Snellville man is now facing murder and feticide charges just over a week after a 16-year-old pregnant girl was found dead in eastern Gwinnett County.
Gwinnett County Police issued a release Tuesday afternoon saying Jesus Monroy, age 20, is being charged with felony murder, malice murder, feticide and aggravated assault in connection with the death of Mia Campos.
Campos was found dead by her family in a wooded area off of Stephens Road near Loganville in the early morning hours of July 15, just hours after she reportedly left her home and got in a car with an unknown person.
Police have not released any potential motive for the crime, but they did identify Monroy as Campos' ex-boyfriend in a previous release. He remains in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond as of Tuesday afternoon and is also facing charges of giving false statements to officers.

Police are investigating after a 16-year-old pregnant girl was found dead in a wooded area near Loganville early Monday morning.
Gwinnett County Police Corporal Collin Flynn said officers were called around 1:00 a.m. Monday by the family of Mia Campos, who said they had found her body in a wooded area off of Stephens Road just south of Rosebud Road. Campos had reportedly left her home on nearby Burning Bush Drive the night before with an unknown person and the family found her using a cell phone tracking app.
Investigators were unable to determine how Campos died, but an autopsy performed Tuesday determined that her death was a homicide.
"Investigators believe that the timeframe from when she left the house that night to when she was found was only approximately three hours," Flynn said. "She was not gone a long time."
On Wednesday morning, Campos' ex-boyfriend, Jesus Monroy, was reportedly arrested on charges of giving false statements to officers in connection with the case. No other charges have been filed against him as of Wednesday morning.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
