A 67-year-old woman from Gainesville was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in Oakwood.

Hall County Sheriff's Office officials said the crash happened around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Mundy Mill Road and McEver Road.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the driver of a Hyundai IONIQ suffered a medical emergency and ran into the back of the tractor trailer, which was stopped at the traffic light at the intersection." a release from the sheriff's office said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, had to be extricated from the wreckage and was taken from the scene to a nearby hospital. The driver of the truck was reportedly not injured.

The crash is still under investigation. The sheriff's office said the scene left the roadway shut down for around an hour during Monday afternoon's commute.
