Barrow County hires its next Chief Financial Officer

Barrow County Manager Srikanth Yamala has announced that Trey Wood has been hired as the county’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Wood has 17 years of accounting and finance experience spanning governmental, enterprise, and proprietary funds and currently serves as Finance Director for the Madison County Board of Education. Wood previously held similar roles with Jackson County Government and Habersham County Government.

Yamala said in a press release Thursday, “Trey’s diverse background and extensive experience will enhance the capabilities of the finance department, and he will be a tremendous asset to the entire organization,."

Wood holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Financial Services from Piedmont College, and a Master’s in Accounting from DeVry University. Wood is also a Certified Public Manager through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.

Wood says, “Finance plays a critical role in providing high-quality services and building a safe, sustainable, and dynamic community.  I look forward to being part of the leadership team and continuing to make that happen.”

Wood will begin his new job on June 10.
