By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A pedestrian was injured when they were hit by a vehicle in South Hall County Tuesday night.

A report from the Georgia State Patrol said the incident happened just before 8:20 p.m. on Candler Road near Roy Parks Road when the pedestrian, identified as Wilfred Tongo, walked in front of a northbound Toyota Highlander and was hit. Officials said Tongo had "visible injuries" but did not provide further details on his status.

The state patrol said charges are not expected against the driver of the Highlander. A social media post by the Hall County Sheriff's Office indicated Candler Road was shut down in the area for some time while crews worked the scene.
