Barrow County Schools name new superintendent

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The Barrow County School System has named its new superintendent effective next month.

The Barrow County Board of Education voted Monday night to approve Dr. Dallas LeDuff as the system's next superintendent. LeDuff will fill the role that was left vacant by Dr. Chris McMichael. Rob Johnson has served as interim superintendent since McMichael's departure in December 2023.

LeDuff comes to Barrow County from Oconee County Schools, where he served as associate superintendent among other capacities since 2013. Prior to that, he worked at Berkmar High School in Gwinnett County as a special education teacher and case manager and filled several roles at South Forsyth High School.

“I am humbled to be selected as the next Superintendent of Barrow County School System," LeDuff said in a release by the school system Tuesday. "This community has been incredibly welcoming to my family, and we are excited to join Barrow County and build upon the successes of our students, teachers, and staff.”

LeDuff's first day as superintendent will be Monday, June 3. Johnson will continue to serve as interim superintendent until that date.

Barrow County Board of Education Chair Jordan Raper said the board is excited to bring LeDuff to the school system.

“We are happy to welcome Dr. LeDuff to Barrow County. His extensive educational experience will help inspire and lead our BOLD staff and students toward continued success," Raper said.

LeDuff has education degrees from Valdosta State University, Georgia State University and Clemson University.
