Crash brings down utility pole on Ga. 115 in Habersham County

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A crash Friday afternoon injured one man and left a major Habersham County roadway shut down for several hours.

Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore said the wreck happened just after 6:00 p.m. on Ga. 115 between Ga. 105 and Fairview School Road. He said a Ford F150 pickup truck struck a utility pole and an embankment at a creek, leaving the driver entrapped.

The crash caused a utility line to fall onto Ga. 115, damaging several other vehicles. None of the occupants of those vehicles were injured.

The driver of the truck was removed from his vehicle and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. His name and the extent of his injuries were not released.

Moore said Ga. 115 was shut down in the area for more than seven hours while crews worked to repair the damaged utility pole and line. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
