Habersham County School Resource Officer fired in wake of GBI investigation

By AccessWDUN Staff

A Habersham County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer was recently fired in the wake of a pending investigation from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The sheriff's office said David Jackels, a former corporal with the agency, was fired on March 1. He was initially hired by the agency on March 5, 2018.

The agency said they would not release any further details until the conclusion of the investigation by the GBI. However, Jackels was reportedly under investigation for "conduct unbecoming" of an officer.

The GBI confirmed the investigation to AccessWDUN, stating they were requested to investigate on Feb. 29.

The investigation remained active and ongoing as of Monday.
