Young Harris man arrested on fentanyl chargers

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A man from Young Harris is behind bars after authorities say he was found in possession of fentanyl.

A social media post Thursday from the Towns County Sheriff's Office said authorities searched a home on Byron Road just off of Ga. 66 on Wednesday. They reportedly recovered 2.7 grams of a substance that field tested positive for fentanyl.

Gregory Thomas Breitenbach, age 44, was arrested at the scene. He faces charges of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute.

"Fentanyl is the most dangerous drug in our community," Thursday's post said. "Sheriff (Ken) Henderson commends the hard work of Towns County Drug Investigators and Clay County Drug Investigators working together to get this dangerous drug out of our community."

The Towns County Sheriff's Office cooperated with the Clay County Sheriff's Office of North Carolina in the investigation.
