Gwinnett County Police arrests a Lilburn suspect on multiple identity fraud and forgery charges

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

The Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) has arrested a suspect on multiple charges of identity fraud and forgery related to property in Arizona.

A release from GCPD Friday says they were informed by law enforcement with Lake Havasu City, Arizona on December 11, that a suspect allegedly stole the identity from a Lake Havasu City resident, and the victim claimed someone was trying to sell their property illegally, without actual ownership.

GCPD officers were able to make contact with the suspect here in Gwinnett County and arrange a location to meet and sign the remaining closing documents to finalize the sale of the property. Police say on Tuesday, December 17, 55-year old Armond Long of Lilburn walked into the meeting location and met with an undercover officer. Long identified himself as the victim from Arizona and attempted to sign the closing documents.

At that time, Long was arrested without incident and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail. He is currently charged with two counts of identity theft and first-degree forgery, but officials say the case remains active, and additional charges are pending.
