Habersham County law enforcement is about to see a change in their leadership, effective January 1, 2025.
That is when current Deputy Sheriff, and Sheriff-elect Robin Krockum officially begins his first term as Habersham County Sheriff. Krockum was sworn into the position on Thursday by Judge Pam Wooley during a ceremony at the county's Probate Court.
He was accompanied to his swearing in ceremony by members of his family and some of his law enforcement family, according to the Habersham County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page posting. Krockum began his career as a jailer at the sheriff’s office in 1995. His career began as a jailer at the sheriff’s office in 1995, serving as a jailer, dispatcher, and transport officer for the next year. Krockum then began work at Demorest Police Department, spending the next decade there and serving as assistant police chief. In 2006, he had the opportunity to create Alto Police Department and serve as chief of police. When current Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell was elected in 2008, Krockum returned to the sheriff’s office and served as patrol commander.
Krockum now will take over the Sheriff's duties after Terrell announced earlier this year that he would not seek another term, following his 30 years of service in the department, of which 16 were as Habersham County Sheriff.
