Boys basketball: Area teams pick up tournament wins

JEFFERSON, Ga. — The Cherokee Bluff boys had three in double figures to blow past Seneca, SC, 72-45, in the semifinals of the Jackson EMC Thanksgiving Tournament at Jefferson on Monday.

The Bears (5-0) will play for the Jackson EMC championship on Tuesday at Jefferson. 

The Bears opened the game on fire, taking an 18-10 lead, and extended it to 36-17 by halftime. The Bears nailed nine 3-pointers in the first half -- 14 for the game. Bluff led 52-26 at the end of the third quarter.

Boston Kersh led the Bears with 17 points and five rebounds. Conner Robinson had 15 points and four rebounds, and Alex Blurton hit 13 points. Cole Brooks had seven points, Cooper Glover netted seven points and 10 boards, and Tyler Underwood had seven points and five rebounds. Andy Quirarte, Cade Acord and JP Combs chipped in two each.

Cole Hulsey scored 24 points, and Gunner Spain had 23 in the Trojans' win over Furtah Prep on the road Monday.

Micah Jimerson added 21 points in the win. 


BUFORD 79,
HARRISON 76 2OT

Ben Wilcox scored 25 points to lead the Wolves past Harrison in overtime in the Harrison Thanksgiving Tournament on Monday.

Dillon Nixon added 24, and Carmelo Williams had 23.

Will Smith scored 27 points, and Brice Jackson had 18 to lead Harrison.
