By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Lula man in jail for the alleged murder of his mother had faced multiple previous allegations of abusive behavior towards her in the past seven years.

Wesley Lamar Lewallen, age 64, is facing charges of felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault after his mother, Louise Lewallen, age 91, was found dead at her home on Moccasin Gap Road just northeast of Lula in Banks County Sunday.

No other details about the murder investigation have been released by the Banks County Sheriff's Office, but county court documents detail several prior incidents between the Wesley and Louise.

Wesley was accused in 2017 of throwing a bowl of cereal at Louise and threatening to shoot his brother, Blakely Lewallen.

"(Wesley Lewallen) did intentionally make physical contact...by throwing a ceramic large (sic) bowl with rice crispy treats cereal and milk in the direction of (Louise Lewallen) grazing her arm causing the bowl to spill its contents on all of the witnesses and victim then breaking," a warrant issued for Wesley Lewallen's arrest in June of 2017 said. "He threatened to get a gun and shoot another; Blakely Lewallen...stating this in front of all the occupants of the house."

Wesley Lewallen was initially charged with simple battery and terroristic threats and acts for the incident, but ultimately pleaded guilty to a single charge of disorderly conduct and was sentenced to a year of probation plus community service.

Three years later, in May of 2020, Lewallen was arrested for a charge of intimidation of an elder person after another incident involving Louise.

"(Wesley was) causing the victim...to believe she would receive bodily harm because he was bear hugging her and keeping her from leaving the residence, until she began to throw and hit him with various objects in the residence," the warrant from that case said.

Lewallen ultimately pleaded guilty to that charge and was sentenced to five years of probation plus a $1,000 fine.

Both of those incidents happened at the same home on Moccasin Gap Road where Louise Lewallen was ultimately found dead Sunday. Wesley Lewallen had also faced several drug and traffic charges in courts in Hall, Banks and Jackson counties over the past 30 years.

No hearings have been scheduled so far for the murder charges against Lewallen in Banks County Superior Court.
