Ty Clack won the special election for Jackson County’s third commission district.
The district covers the Braselton and Hoschton areas of the county.
“The first person I want to mention and thank is my Lord and savior Jesus Christ,” Clack said. “Secondly, my family, my wife Heather and both of my kids Cooper and Kelsey for the sacrifices that they’ve had to deal with with me not being home during this campaign.”
The seat opened up after former district three commissioner Chad Bingham stepped down earlier this year to run for county commission chair.
Clack ended up winning 61-percent of the vote to Steve Wittry’s 39-percent.
Clack will get sworn in at the Nov. 18 board of commissioners meeting.
“Finally, I just want to thank Steve for the campaign that he ran,” Clack said. “I think that this race should be an example moving forward of how to unify people in a local community race.”
