A Nicholson man was arrested recently on a list of charges including rape and child molestation.
A statement issued on social media Thursday by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said Antonio DeJesus Trejo, age 34, was arrested Monday on eight counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
"Further investigation resulted in additional charges of Rape, Incest and two counts of Aggravated Child Molestation," the sheriff's office said.
No further details on the alleged crimes were released, but the sheriff's office did credit one of its investigators with getting Trejo away from the victim in the case.
"Rescued by a relentless investigator, a child doesn't have to fear another day from an evil tormentor," the sheriff's office said.
Trejo is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond as of Friday afternoon.
