COLUMBUS, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff moved into the semifinals of the Class 3A state softball tournament on Friday at the Olympic Softball Complex.
The Lady Bears beat Pickens 9-1 in the loser's bracket of the double-elimination format to advance. They will take on the the loser of the Monroe Area-Heritage-Catoosa matchup on Saturday at 11 a.m..
The win over the Dragonettes was the second of the tournament for Bluff. They beat Pickens 9-3 on Wednesday to open the tournament.
Meanwhile, Banks County was knocked out the Class A Division 1 tournament in an 18-3 loss to Bremen. The Lady Leopards had stayed alive earlier in the day with a 3-2 victory over Social Circle.
And Union County also was eliminated in Class 2A on Friday with a 4-0 loss to Pike County.
