By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

A suspect taken into custody by the Rabun County Sheriff's deputies faces charges from an alleged shooting at a Clayton home on Monday, October 21.

Social media posts from Rabun County Sheriff Mark Gerrells's office say one man was taken from a home along Bent Laurel Ridge Drive and airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment on October 21, during early morning hours.  The alleged assailant, identified through the Rabun County Inmate Search website as Colin Joseph McCarthy, was taken into custody without incident, according to the Rabun Sheriff's social media post. McCarthy is held on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm or knife during commission or attempt to commit a felony.

The name of the injured victim and the cause for the shooting has not been released, but the Rabun County Sheriff's post says they believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is handling further details behind the investigation, with assistance from the Rabun Sheriff's Office.
