FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Flowery Branch's defense came through big time in the final minutes of regulation and overtime to knock off Walnut Grove Friday night, 20-17.
The Falcons got on the board first, but a pair of Warrior touchdowns put Walnut Grove ahead, 14-7, at halftime. Flowery Branch clawed back to tie the game up at 14-14 after three quarters of play before a pair of field goals had it tied 17-17.
The Warriors drove down into field goal range late in regulation but missed the game winner as time expired, forcing overtime. Walnut Grove hit a field goal before quarterback Riley Bourrie ran in on a 6-yard bootleg to claim the win in overtime.
Now holding on to the fourth spot in Region 8-4A, the Falcons will head to North Oconee next week to take on the top team in the region standings.
