A Buford man is behind bars after allegedly shooting at a woman inside his home over the weekend.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Derreck Booth said deputies were called to the scene on Poplar Place just before 5:00 p.m. Saturday to a report of a domestic dispute where a gunshot had been fired. When deputies got to the home, they spoke to witnesses inside and identified the suspect at Roger Wayne Ballew, age 66.
"Additional deputies that were responding during that time were able to find the suspect," Booth said. "He was still in the neighborhood and they detained him without incident."
Investigators said Ballew was in a verbal dispute with a woman in the home when he threatened her, pointed a gun at her and fired one shot that hit a door the victim was leaning against. Ballew also reportedly pushed a 17-year-old boy who was trying to intervene. No one was injured in the incident and Ballew then left the home.
Ballew was booked into the Hall County Jail on a list of charges including aggravated assault with a firearm and terroristic threats and acts. He remained in the jail without bond as of Monday afternoon.
