AAA: Georgia gas prices rise slightly

By Austin Eller News Director

Georgia's average price for a gallon of gas is up slightly this week, according to AAA.

The agency said Monday morning that Georgia drivers were paying an average of $3.02 per gallon for regular gas. That's about seven cents more than the week prior, one cent more than the month prior and 37 cents less than this time one year prior.

“Georgians experienced unwelcomed spikes at the pumps this weekend,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “Although gas demand has declined, crude oil prices have increased, pushing gas prices higher. If oil prices drop in the week ahead this recent price bounce may fade.”

The national average has also increased over the past week, up three cents to a new average of $3.10 per gallon.

Forsyth and White counties had the most expensive gas in Northeast Georgia as of Monday morning, at $3.07 and $3.05 per gallon, respectively.

Meanwhile, Hart and Elbert counties had some of the cheapest gas in Northeast Georgia with averages of $2.87 and $2.89.
