Prep basketball scoreboard: No. 3 Buford girls knock off No. 2 Wesleyan; Union boys roll; EHall boys fall

BUFORD, Ga. — Lydia Ledford and Ava Grace Watson were tough to stop as the Class 7A No. 3 Buford girls basketball team knocked off nationally ranked Wesleyan, 70-65, at the Buford Arena on Saturday. 

The two guards combined for 33 points in the first half to push Buford(19-2) to a 43-40 lead at halftime. 

Watson finished with a team-high 24 points, 20 from the 3-point line, while Ledford netted 20. 

Chit Chat Wright led Wesleyan (16-3) with 24 points. Wesleyan is ranked No. 2 in Class 3A. 

The second half was a defensive battle as both teams ended the third quarter scoring 11 points each. In the fourth, Buford edged Wesleyan 16-14. 

Buford was 12 of 16 from the foul line. Wesleyan was 8 of 9 from the line. 

UNION COUNTY BOYS 91,
FELLOWSHIP CHRISTIAN 36

A day after falling to Athens Academy, the 10th-ranked Union County boys (17-4, 4-2 Region 8-2A) s took out their frustration in the blowout win against Fellowship Christian (7-13, 1-6 Region 8-2A). 

The Panthers ran out to a 28-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and were up 47-15 at the half. 

Houston Henery scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half. Jude Ellis finished with 16, Hayden Hughes had 14, and Cade Dockery chipped in 10. 

The Panthers were up 77-28 at the end of the third quarter. 

SECKINGER BOYS 73,
EAST HALL 60

No. 7-ranked Seckinger (17-6) used a 23-point fourth quarter to seal its win over East Hall (11-11) on Saturday at home. 

The Vikings trailed 33-30 at halftime. 

Chris Alford led the Vikings with a team-high 26 points — 18 from the 3-point line. Jamarcus Harrison added 12, and Chasen Jones had eight points. 

Keith Banks led the Jaguars with a game-high 38 points.
