A man was arrested Saturday in Forsyth County after he allegedly stole jewelry and handbags from a home in the southern part of the county.

An incident report from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Rodrigo Marroquin Aguilar, 35, of New York, was charged with first-degree burglary for the theft at a home on Overlook Club Circle in unincorporated Suwanee.

Deputies responded to the area at about 6:45 p.m. to a report of a suspicious vehicle. An alarm call then came in from the home that had been burglarized, which was near where the suspicious vehicle had been spotted.

The deputies found an open window at the back of the home. They also found several items, including a monocular.

Deputies were able to clear the residence and found a bedroom on the main level had been ransacked with multiple items missing.

K9 and drone units with the Johns Creek Police Department helped search for the suspects. During that search, authorities found a ladder, screwdriver and a stolen purse in the woods. Aguilar was eventually arrested as a result.

Aguilar remained in the Forsyth County Jail as of Thursday morning.
