SaferWatch is a mobile panic alert app that the Hall County School System has started using to help prevent and detect any threats on school grounds.
The app is restricted to a geofence, meaning that only certain people who are on the school campus are able to access the program.
Testing for the program and staff members will be held twice per school year.
"We're going to do that when students aren't present at the beginning of the fall semester and beginning of the spring semester, to make sure that our kids know what to do during emergencies and to be in compliance," Hall County Purchasing Manager and Risk Manager Eric Radich said.
If there is a threat or danger to the school a team member can open that app, and with a few pushes of a button, notify everyone on campus to go into lockdown.
The Hall County School District began implementing the app during the end of the 2022-2023 school year, but has now been equipped in all schools for the 2023-2024 year.
