Gwinnett County Police announced Friday morning they are searching for two suspects after a shooting Saturday evening at Sugarloaf Mills Mall in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
According to a press release from the agency, officers working at the mall heard several gunshots shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Multiple officers quickly responded as patrons were fleeing from inside the mall and calling 911 about a possible active shooter. Officers were able to locate a victim, who was not injured, along with several witnesses.
Detectives determined the two suspects got into an argument with an employee at a shoe kiosk inside the mall. The argument turned physical, and one or both of the suspects fired shots at the victim. No one was injured by the gunfire.
One suspect had short hair and was wearing black pants, a black t-shirt and was carrying a backpack. The second suspect was wearing white or tan shorts, a black t-shirt and had slightly longer hair.
"The incident was frightening and caused immediate panic among the patrons of the mall," the press release said. "The incident was an isolated argument and was not an active shooter. Detectives are asking for help in identifying the suspects that created this frantic chaos and put the community at risk who were trying to enjoy their Saturday evening."
