Gwinnett County authorities working to identify T-Mobile store thief

The Gwinnett County Police Department Friday morning issued a notice for help in identifying a T-Mobile store thief who reportedly stole nearly $10K worth of display cell phones.

The suspect entered the T-Mobile location at 6135 Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree Corners on July 3 at approximately 3:41 p.m. At the time of the crime, the suspect was wearing a medical mask over his face and had on a gray jacket and shorts. Once he was in the store, employees asked if they could assist him and he didn’t respond, according to Gwinnett County police reports.

The male suspect was carrying a set of pliers and began cutting the cords attached to the display phones. Once the store owner saw the theft taking place, he hit the panic button, which alerted authorities.

The suspect stole an Apple iPhone 14 Plus, two Apple iPhone Pros, two Apple iPhone Pro Maxes, two Apple iPhone 14s, an Apple iPhone 13, an Apple iPhone 12, a Samsung Galaxy A14, a Samsung Galaxy G22, a Samsung Galaxy A54 and two Android phones, according to Gwinnett County officials.

The total estimated value of the stolen phones came to approximately $9,918.

After the suspect cut the cords on the phones and placed them in a backpack, he left the store in a black Lincoln SUV.

Following the incident, authorities spoke with a loss prevention officer who compared the theft video footage to that of two similar crimes that occurred earlier that same day. Those thefts also took place in T-Mobile stores; one at the Cumberland Mall and another in Dallas, Georgia. During those crimes, the suspect reportedly left the scene in a black Ford F-150, Harvey said.

The suspect has been described by authorities as a black male with a light complexion and dreadlocks. He was wearing a facemask, a long-sleeved gray shirt, tan shorts and a black backpack.
