By Christian Ashliman Anchor/Reporter

Commerce city officials announced Wednesday afternoon that a boil water advisory is in effect for the Banks Crossing area after a water main was damaged by construction work.

The boil water advisory is in effect for Banks Crossing from Industrial Park Drive, north on U.S Highway 441 to Faulkner Road in Banks County. Impacts from a water main break are said to only be affecting residents in that area, according to city officials.

As of the last report, crews had repaired the damaged water line, but further testing on water supplies is necessary.

The boil water advisory is scheduled to expire on Friday, June 30th, at 12:00 noon, unless otherwise updated.

More information on the advisory and direct updates from the Commerce officials can be found on their website.

The water main break reportedly was damaged during the course of construction work in the Banks Crossing area, officials said Wednesday.
