JEFFERSON, Ga. — Sammy Brown, the top-rated linebacker and the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports, has announced he has committed to Clemson to play football.
The Jefferson native made his announcement on Monday in a social media post. Following an official visit to Clemson recently, Brown choose the Tigers over Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
It had been rumored that Georgia and Tennessee were his top choices but he had other plans. Commitments are not written in stone. It would not become official until he officially signs, presumably during the early signing period in December.
Brown is one of the most dynamic athletes in the state. In 2022, Brown rushed for 1,459 yards and 21 touchdowns while also recording 113 tackles on defense from his linebacker spot. He also is a two-time state champion in wrestling for the Dragons.
