GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Lanier Christian scored 23 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 35-12 win over Riverside Prep on Thursday at Cabbel Field.
The Lightning (2-1) got 200 yards and four touchdowns rushing from Ben Hargis.
But LCA had to battle from behind. RPA (1-1) led 6-0 in the first half before the Lightning rallied to tie the game at 6 by halftime.
LCA took a 12-6 lead in the third quarter before the Eagles answered to tie the game at 12 in the fourth quarter. But the wheels fell off for the Eagles in the fourth quarter.
LCA will be off for the next two weeks before returning to action on Sept. 19 against Cherokee Christian on the road. Riverside heads to Bethlehem Christian next week to open its GIAA District 4-4A-3A schedule.
