Gwinnett animal welfare shelter suspends dog adoptions

By Access WDUN Staff

An animal welfare shelter is temporarily suspending dog adoptions out of an act of safety for animals and citizens alike.

The Bill Atkinson Animal Welfare Center has suspended dog adoptions and dog intakes until June 5 as a proactive measure against a canine viral infection.

A  press release from gwinnettcounty.com said that pet owners will still be able to reclaim any lost pets, including dogs, during business hours.

Cat adoptions are still available during this time, and the center will still take cats and injured dogs.
