A Duluth man was sentenced Friday to a year of probation with two months on house arrest after pleading guilty to charges related to the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, John David Ross Gould, age 46, was inside the Capitol for 40 minutes during the riots in 2021. Gould pleaded guilty in December of 2022.
Gould is the twentieth person with Georgia ties to either plead guilty or be found guilty of charges stemming from the riots. The U.S. Department of Justice has charged more than 1,000 people during its investigation.
U.S. attorneys said Gould went down a hallway outside the House chamber where a mob was attempting to force its way in while members of Congress were being evacuated. He also reported entered a reception room and took a photo of himself in a mirror.
Gould was also sentenced to 60 hours of community service and a $500 fine.
