By Christian Ashliman Anchor/Reporter

A three-vehicle road rage incident Sunday between a juvenile, their family and another man led to multiple gunshots, ultimately landing the adult men in the White County jail.

White County Sheriff’s deputies Sunday evening responded to an incident of road rage with shots fired on Highway 129 South, near Cougar Drive. The initial road rage started in Lumpkin County between Jorden McKinney, 25, of Gainesville, driving a BMW and a juvenile, 16, driving a red Chevrolet truck.

McKinney eventually struck the back of the juvenile’s truck. Shortly after that, a white truck driven by family members of the juvenile arrived and began firing gunshots at McKinney. The family members in the truck were later identified as Charles Wayne Ryder, 51, and Charles Dewey Lewis Ryder, 21, both from Lula.

McKinney reportedly drove past them, made a U-turn, then struck the white truck with his BMW. The white truck then rammed the BMW, disabling the vehicle. Deputies arrived and arrested all three men at the scene and transported them to the White County jail.

McKinney and Charles Wayne Ryder have both allegedly been charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony and Aggressive Driving.

Charles Dewey Lewis Ryder has allegedly been charged with Reckless Conduct, Discharge of a firearm near a roadway and Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony.

White County Sheriff Rick Kelley reports the investigation is still ongoing.
