NGHS names employees of the year

By Sydney Hencil Anchor/Reporter
Northeast Georgia Health System recently recognized two employees as its 2023 Employees of the Year at its annual service awards celebration.

Lidia Sorto, a cashier in nutrition services and Gloria Gilstrap, a benefits administrator in employee benefits are this year's winners.

According to a press release from NGHS, this is the highest honor an NGHS employee can receive.  Each year, the selection committee selects one of the system’s Employees of the Month to receive the honor.

This year the committee chose two instead of one.

"It's pretty remarkable when you have trouble finding just one outstanding employee within your health system," Carol Burrell, president and CEO of NGHS said.

Sorto has been with NGHS for 16 years. She is described as having an infectious smile, being dependable, kind and a person who easily connects with others.  Gilstrap has been with NGHS for 30 years and is described as being smart, loyal, generous and incredibly hard-working.

NGHS also recognized almost 550 employees of 10 years or more for their work at the annual event, including 15 employees for 40+ years of service.
