FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Flowery Branch has hired David Hawkins as its next head boys basketball coach, the school announced on Wednesday.
Hawkins, who has been an assistant coach at the school for the last five years, replaces his former boss Jay Burney. Burney stepped down from the post last week.
Branch athletic director Jimmy Lawler said Hawkins brings a tremendous basketball mind and work ethic to the program.
"We are very excited to have Coach Hawkins take over our basketball program," Lawler said in a press release. "He has been an outstanding assistant for us the last few years, and I'm certain he is the right guy to lead us to the next level." "David brings a hard work ethic and has a tremendous basketball mind. Add the fact that developing relationships is important to him, and we could not have found a better head coach."
