A Gainesville man faces several charges, including driving under the influence, after a three-vehicle wreck in Hall County Saturday left one person seriously injured.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Esvin Ruben Ramierez-Perez, 22, of Gainesville, was travelling east in a Ford Fusion on Mountain View Rd. Saturday when he failed to maintain his lane and crossed the center line as he was negotiating a right-hand curve.

A Dodge Dakota was travelling west on Mountain View Rd. at the same time as Perez, negotiating a left-hand curve, while a third vehicle, a Honda Civic, was travelling several hundred feet behind the Dakota.

According to officials, Perez struck the driver’s side of the Dodge Dakota, which caused the truck to rotate counterclockwise, travel off the shoulder and strike a mailbox before coming to an uncontrolled rest at the intersection of Mountain View Rd. and Dogwood Dr.

Perez allegedly continued to travel east until he struck the Honda Civic head-on. Perez’s vehicle then made a counterclockwise rotation before it came to an uncontrolled rest on the southeast corner of the intersection of Mountain View Rd. and Pear Haven Ln. The Honda Civic also rotated in a counterclockwise direction before it made an uncontrolled rest in the westbound lane of Mountain View Rd.

Georgia State Patrol was dispatched to the scene at 9:24 p.m.

According to officials, Perez suffered minor injuries; however, the driver of the Honda Civic was transported to an area hospital with multiple broken bones.

Perez was charged with failure to maintain lane, driving while unlicensed, driving under the influence, serious injury by vehicle and open container of alcohol.

Perez was released on bond from the Hall County Jail Monday, March 6.
