GAINESVILLE, Ga. — East Forsyth is in search of a new girls basketball coach.
Mike Hedrick, who started the girls basketball program two years ago, announced his resignation via Twitter on Tuesday.
"I have officially resigned as the Head Women’s Basketball coach at East Forsyth and plan to pursue a career opportunity at the next level," he said in a three-post statement on Twitter. "I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to be the first coach in school history to help this program reach back-to-back Sweet 16 and region championship appearances. I know in my heart that East Forsyth Athletics will continue to rise. Thank you to the administration, the community, and my coaching staff for all the support. Most importantly, thank you to the student-athletes for all the work, the memories and allowing our staff to play a role in your life."
In the program's first season (2021-22), Hedrick led the Lady Broncos to a 20-9 overall record, an appearance in the Region 7-3A championship game, and a trip to the second round of the Class 3A playoffs. This season, the first in Class 4A, East Forsyth finished 17-14 overall, made the Region 8-4A title game, and ended the season with a loss to Luella in the second round of the Class 4A tournament.
