Eight people, including a former NFL football player, were indicted in Gwinnett County Wednesday following a major human trafficking and gang investigation.
Attorney General Chris Carr announced Thursday, Feb. 16, the eight alleged defendants took part in trafficking crimes that involved five female victims, including one minor and recruited others to join the LOTTO (Last One To Take Over) gang.
One of the eight people who was indicted is Eric Duane Johnson, a former NFL football player who played for the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, and Arizona Cardinals.
The alleged criminals are facing a range of charges including trafficking of persons for sexual servitude; violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act; conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act; aggravated assault; and kidnapping.
“Throughout our state, gangs are actively engaged in human trafficking as a primary means to make money, and we are using all available resources to fight back and protect our most vulnerable,” Carr said. “We are working to ensure that those who lead, promote, and encourage this unlawful activity are vigorously pursued and held accountable for their actions.”
The following eight defendants were indicted Feb. 8, 2023:
- Sean (‘Jaak’) Aaron Curry, 33, of Gwinnett County
- Sean (‘Shootah’) Patrick Harvey, age 35, of Gwinnett County
- Eric (‘EJ’) Duane Johnson, 46, of DeKalb County
