Region 7-3A girls: Dawson County rallies past Pickens; White beats Gilmer to advance; WHall falls

NORCROSS, Ga. — The Dawson County girls used a big fourth quarter to rally past Pickens, 53-50, in the first round of the Region 7-3A tournament at Wesleyan on Tuesday. 

With the win, the Lady Tigers advance to the Class 3A tournament. They'll play second-ranked and top-seeded Lumpkin County at home on Thursday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Lady Tigers trailed 41-31 at the end of the third quarter. Abby Samples-Slaton, who finished with a game-high 19 points, hit four 3-pointers in the final period to help lift Dawson Counnty to the win. 

Morgan Chester added 12 points, and Eva Bishop chipped in 10. 


WHITE COUNTY 68, 
GILMER 41

The Lady Warriors turned a 20-16 first-quarter lead into a 40-23 halftime advantage en route to the win over Gilmer at Wesleyan on Monday. 

Naomi Roberts led White County with 20 points, while Aaliyah Anderson chipped in 13. Chandler Weaver and Kylie Watkins added 10 points each. 

White County will play Wesleyan on Thursday at Dawson County. Tip-off is 4 p.m.


WESLEYAN 73,
WEST HALL 16

Eva Garabadian scored 15 points, and Avery Tucker and Chazadi Wright added 12 each to lead Wesleyan past West Hall at home on Monday. 

With the win, Wesleyan advances to play White County in the semifinals of the Region 7-3A tournament at Dawson County on Thursday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
