Three people arrested on drug trafficking charges in Habersham, White counties

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a press release Friday that three people are now facing drug trafficking charges out of Habersham and White counties.

Two of the suspects, Ronald Bafile, 42, of Cleveland, and Megan Bafile, age 31, of Dahlonega, were previously arrested following a brief vehicle pursuit Tuesday evening in Baldwin. The Habersham County Sheriff's Office previously told AccessWDUN the Bafiles were eventually detained after law enforcement performed a pit maneuver on their vehicle on Ga. 365 near Kudzu Hill Drive.

The GBI said a third suspect, Cody Lee Fendley, 38, of Cleveland, is now also facing charges in the case.

During the multi-day operation, law enforcement seized more than a pound of suspected methamphetamine, as well as suspected fentanyl and marijuana throughout White and Habersham counties. The total street value of the drugs was about $15,000.

  • Ronald Bafile was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and fleeing and attempting to elude.  
  • Megan Bafile was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and obstruction of law enforcement. 
  • Fendley was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of fentanyl with the intent to distribute. Fendley was also wanted from a previous incident for aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and criminal trespass.  

The White County Sheriff's Office, Habersham County Sheriff's Office, Cleveland Police Department and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office all assisted with the investigation.

The GBI said the investigation remained underway as of Friday.
