Boys basketball: Maranatha, Lakeview, Union County win; White, North Hall, Bluff lose

TIGER, Ga. — Tayden Ware scored 14 points to lead the Lakeview boys basketball team past Rabun County on the road Friday. 

Eli Mayfield and JR Thompson scored 11 points each in the win, and Brock Graham chipped in 10. 

The Lions (2-1) rallied to a 39-32 halftime lead and extended it to a 54-48 advantage at the end of the third. 

Lakeview will travel to Pinecrest Academy on Tuesday. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.


MARANATHA CHRISTIAN 72,
HARVEST BAPTIST 49

Maranatha picked up a strong road win Friday night over Harvest Baptist. 

Senior Tarell Grant exploded for a career-high 41 points, 28 of which came in the second half. Nigel Clayton had 11 points. Bode Fisher added nine points and seven rebounds. Dallas Jones led Harvest Baptist with 15 points. Kayden Wingard added 10 points. 

MCA (2-2) plays Notre Dame Academy on Saturday at 1:30 pm for the Route 400 Classic at Dawson County. 


SECKINGER 71,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 61

The Bears (2-3) fell on the road to Seckinger on Friday.

Boston Kersh led the Bears with 16 points. Logan Holmes finished with 14 and four rebounds, Tyler Underwood had 12 points and four rebounds, and Andy Quirarte finished with 11.

The Bears closed cut Seckinger's lead to 51-47 at the end of the third quarter but couldn't pull ahead. The Bears host East Forsyth on Tuesday. 


UNION COUNTY 64,
WHITE COUNTY 59

After falling behind 19-17 at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers battled to a 28-21 halftime lead. 

But it was the third quarter that pushed Union County ahead for good, outscoring White County 25-10 to take a 56-41 advantage. The Warriors tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter, but it fell short. 

Houston Henry led the Panthers with 23 points, and Jaxon Totherow had 13. 

David Boman led the Warriors with 23 points, and Braxton Anderson had 13.


NORTH OCONEE 86,
NORTH HALL 39

The Titans were on fire from 3-point land, scoring over half of their points from 20 feet to blow past North Hall on the road Friday. 

North Oconee outpaced the Trojans 44-17 in the first half and held them under 10 points in three of the four quarters. 

Justin Wise led the Titans with 21 points, 15 from the 3-point line. 

Cole Hulsey led the Trojans with 10 points.
